Basque Country, September 2012

We swapped apartments with our friends Regine Gimeno and William Snowdown, who live in San Sebastian on the Bay of Biscay near the French border. We got to stay in a lovely Art Nouveau-style neighborhood around the corner from many sidewalk cafés with cheap delicious wine, cider and tapas. Click on an image to enlarge it and see the caption.

Enchanting loaves at a pop-up bakery in the park across from the train station in San Sebastian. I took a lot of pictures of this bakery because it was such an intriguing temporary structure with such good bread and because I'm the opposite of gluten free. I'm gluten dependent. A slave to gluten. Unwilling to go to the Gluten-eaters Anonymous meetings.
